Catching up with Con Migro
Long time mates, former WA Speedcar star Charlie West (left) and Track Manager/Director of Perth’s Claremont Speedway, Con Migro, recently caught up at WA’s York Motor Museum located 90 minutes east of Perth.
The occasion was for a taped interview which went to air on Graeme Sinden’s “Talking About Speedway” show on Facebook and Podcast. Con and Charlie go back a long way and their get-together presented a wonderful opportunity to reminisce about the great days of Claremont Speedway.
Charlie, 82, recorded 30 feature race wins at the former Claremont venue and was one of the stars of the 70s Speedcar era at the venue.
The car (pictured here) he raced to those successes is the former Sydney Speedcar driven in the late 60s by prominent driver of the day Ray Oram. Car in those days of Sydney Speedcar racing at Westmead Speedway and Sydney Showground, was known as the Nick Scali Holden.
Prior to his entry into Speedcar racing, Charlie was an outstanding motorcycle scrambles rider with state and national title honours.
