FORMER UK TEST RIDER ALAN GRAHAME DIES
ALAN GRAHAME, 67, DIES
Sad news out of England today reports the death of former UK Test rider Alan Grahame 67.
While early details are sketchy, Alan died from injuries he suffered in a recent racing accident.
Alan had a long and illustrious career and represented Gt Britain in Tests against Australia in Australia. He was a part of a touring team during the 1978-79 season which included England’s future World Champion Michael Lee.
He was a reserve for the 1984 World Speedway Championship and scored five points.
He is best remembered for his years in the British League over almost two decades.
His career spanned a number of clubs: Birmingham, Swindon, Poole, Woilverhampton, Hull, Cradley, Stoke, Oxford and Peterborough.
In a signiifcant career highlight, he was a part of Birmingham’s 1974 British League Division Two Championship winning team and also the Brummies’ KO Cup success that same year.
He was runner-up to his brother Andy Grahame in the 1982 British Speedway Championship.
