The lights will be switched on again this Saturday night, November 6, for another season under the promotion of David Lander at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.
His first summer season at the track was 2007-2008 and today he holds the mantle as the circuit’s longest serving promoter.
Each season David looks to ensuring fans are provided with great speedway entertainment and this season he will continue that theme with major events planned.
“It’s very important to give the fans value for money and a good night’s speedway entertainment and I have always believed that is the prime requirement of any promoter,” Lander said.
“We have some very loyal, long serving Lismore fans who just love their speedway and this season I think they will again witness some enjoyable action. It’s also knowing what the fans expect and want to see,” he added.
The 16-fixture season also includes some double header meetings in the coming six months before the 2021-2022 racing campaign concludes on April 24, 2022.
The month of November promises to be exciting with Sprintcars – both wingless and winged cars – strutting their stuff.
The November 6 opener will feature twin-25 lap main events for Wingless Sprintcars which have proven one of the most popular racing categories over the past ten years at the Lismore Showground venue.
Wingless Sprintcar racing next Saturday night will be supported with action for V8 Dirt Modifieds, Production Sedans, Street Stocks, RSA Four Cylinder Sedans, Junior Sedans and AMCA Nationals.
Then, on November 20, the thunder and lightning 410 V8 engined winged Sprintcars haul into Lismore for what promises a wonderful night of high speed racing.
These cars have to be seen to be believed and even the tight confines of the Lismore Showground bull ring does not stop these powerful cars from producing top speeds. The 410s will be seen in heat race and main event action.
Their appearances sets the scene for a very busy coming months.
It will be a big season for V8 Dirt Modifieds and Wingless Sprintcars.
In addition to November 6, the dates listed for the wheel hiking V8s Dirt Modifieds are December 4, December 26, January 8, February 5, April 2, April 16 and 17.
The Dirt Modifieds have come onto the programme this season as part of our annual Kids Pre-Christmas Party Spectacular that is set down for December 4.
In addition to all the enjoyment of the night in keeping with that month’s Christmas spirit with kids push bike races and other fun-filled family events, the V8 Dirt Modifieds will contest heats and a main event over 30 laps.
December 4 also will be a big night for the Wingless Sprintcars with the running of their annual 50 lapper.
Wingless Sprintcars will feature prominently throughout the season.
They have a full book when the respective two-night fixtures are included with 16 race nights.
The Wingless Sprints’ full schedule is: November 6, 20; December 4, 26; January 8, 14, 15, 22; February 5, 19; March 19; April 2, 16, 17, 23, 24.
Numbers in the local ranks are again this season expected to improve, ensuring this popular division maintains good car counts throughout the season.
The Lismore Super Sedan appearances also incorporates rounds of their McCosker Series.
The annual tournament is featured over 19 rounds in a schedule that spans from October 2021 to May 2022 and also takes in a number of Queensland tracks. In addition to the January 14 and 15 Super Sedan double header at Lismore, the division will also race there on February 22 for another round of their very successful and long running tournament.
This particular tournament is the flag-waver for the Super Sedan Association (Inc) and stands proud in the history of Queensland Super Sedan racing.
March will be a good month for the Production Sedan and Modified Sedan divisions.
On March 5 the annual East Coast Production Sedan Grand National will be held, while two weeks later – March 19 – it’s the turn of the Modified Sedans to take centre stage. The Modified Sedans will race for honours in the Northern Rivers Sizzler.
Meanwhile, the Anzac Day long weekend will feature back-to-back nights of racing (April 23 and 24) for a variety of sedan categories.
This will be a night when the Northern Rivers Championship goes on the line for several of our sedan divisions – Street Stocks, Four Cylinder Sedans, Junior Sedans and Production Sedans.
Monster Trucks also have been booked for Lismore and are set to perform their spectacular ramp-jump antics on January 22.
