410 SPRINTCARS AT LISMORE SPEEDWAY NOVEMBER 20

Sydney’s Sam Walsh heads the entries for next Saturday night’s V8 Sprintcar racing events at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway. 

THE SPECTACLE of high speed 410ci V8 engine Sprintcar racing returns to Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway, Saturday night, November 20.

The sanctioning Sprintcar Association of New South Wales presents a round of their domestic series with a programme format that includes time trials, four heats, a dash for the top six in points from the heats and a 30-lap feature race.

Promoter David Lander was keen to book the southern Sprintcars for an early season show, made possible after border restrictions prevented the Queensland Super Sedan contingent from running a round of their series at the originally planned November 20 fixture.

“I think this would have to be the first time Lismore has programmed V8 Sprintcars so early in the season,” Lander said this week.

“It’s good to have the Sydney drivers on hand who have been starved of racing in their city for almost two years. They will certainly be keen to go racing and I am sure they will provide fans with some exciting action if our previous Sprintcar shows in more recent seasons serve as a guide.”

Former Valvoline Raceway (Parramatta City Raceway) Track Champion Sam Walsh heads the entry list driving for the Sydney-based Rocket Industries speed equipment organisation.

Other experienced drivers in the starting line-up include Mark Attard and Warren Ferguson. The line-up also features Coby Elliott, Mick Matchett, Chris McInerney, Mick Saurer, Luke Thomas, Jeff Lawler, Mick Turner, Luke Stirton, Peter O’Neill and Alex Attard. Zac Pacchiarotta is a late entrant after having completed a rebuild of his latest model Sprintcar in preparation for the Lismore event.

In view of a lack of racing activity from the Sydney stars over such a long period, the line-up is certainly strong enough to provide a high level of Sprintcar racing.

Walsh is the most experienced of the drivers entered. He not only has raced at all the major Australian circuits over a number of years but he also has competed in America on their very tough and demanding national championship trail.

The Sprintcars will be supported with racing for Wingless Sprintcars, AMCAs, Production Sedans, Street Stocks and Junior Sedans.

Gates open at 4PM and racing commences at 5:30PM.
