McFADDEN TO THE MAX AT SUNGOLD STADIUM
McFadden To The Max at Sungold Stadium
James McFadden claimed his first Max’s Race with a commanding performance on a testing Sungold Stadium surface, being utilised in race trim for the first time since a recent re-surfacing program.
Having earlier set quickest time in his qualifying group, McFadden backed that up with third placed run before a blisteringly quick lap of 10.356 during the Gold Shoot-Out ensured a front row start.
From there he was never headed as he led home an impressive Tate Frost, with the young Tasmanian snapping at McFadden’s heels at times only to be seemingly thwarted by a series of caution and red-light stoppages.
Coming home third was Daniel Pestka who put together a great night’s racing, while Jamie Veal and Jake Smith rounded out the top five.
McFadden will now take an early stranglehold on the Total Tools Warrnambool $10,000 to Win Track Championship as presented by Fitz Media and The Midfield Group.
In the Late Models, Shane Belk piloted a potent V9 package to Victory Lane ahead of Brendan Hucker and Peter Nicola, while the Junior Formula 500 Stampede Series Round Rusty Ponting impressed to take the win, after early race leader Zoe Pearce saw her strong lead evaporate after displacing a chain about the Lucas Oil backed entry.
Ponting would eventually lead home Caleb Langdon and Maddox Gibbs.
