AMERICAN World of Outlaws Sprintcar star Carson Macedo is a definite starter at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway Wednesday night, January 12.

Californian Macedo will drive for the Dyson Motorsports Team and is really looking forward to his appearance on the tight confines of the Lismore Showground Speedway bull ring.

“It’s a tight turning track that presents a challenge and I am really keen to run there this week,” he said.

He will race in a round of the Speedway Australia supported NSW/Queensland Sprintcar States Series.

Carson brings to Lismore a wealth of talent as a top rating star on the gruelling World of Outlaws National Sprintcar Championship circuit and comes to the Northern Rivers area fresh from a great 2021 season.

Carson has a driving ambition to win the WoO national title and the 2021 season was his best ever attempt, running for Jason Johnson Racing.

He came mighty close to lifting the trophy!

He pulled up only 134 markers short of the big prize with a very impressive third placing in the 2021 World of Outlaws Championship.

His consistency showed through with 41 top-ten A-main results incorporating an all-up highly impressive 65 top five main event placings. Macedo, 25 from Lemoore, California, contested the 77 races on this season’s WoO schedule and recorded 11 feature race victories.

Carson already has shown his class in Australia driving for the Dyson Racing Team after winning two of the sport’s highest profile events in 2020 – the Australian Speedcar Championship and the Australian Speedcar Grand Prix.

The Dyson team presented him with both Midget and Sprintcar equipment to do his thing and he was very impressive.

His performance in 2021 World of Outlaws competition was not really surprising after his 2019 effort when he finished a highly commendable sixth-placing in the WoO Championship final point standings. He also took out the 2019 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year honours.

That was a great first full time season (driving for Kyle Larson Racing) when he raced to four main event victories. A highlight of that season was his $20,000 win in the NOS Energy Drink Showdown at Black Hills Speedway, Rapid City, South Dakota.

In his initial full scale assault on the WoO season, he showed strong consistency for the sixth placing in final standings which was followed up in 2020 with an even better result when Carson was placed fifth in the WoO Championship standings.

It was a mighty effort that clearly indicated even better years awaited as the progression each season has been getting closer to the top rung of the ladder!

The sky’s the limit for Carson in 2022. Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway promoter Dave Lander is very pleased and proud that one of Carson’s early drives in 2022 will be in a Sprintcar at the Lismore Showground venue.
