McHUGH IS A WARRNAMBOOL CLASSIC CHAMP
Queensland’s Lachlan McHugh is the 2022 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic Champion after he led a fast paced non-stop 40 lap feature that saw 23 of the 24 starters go the distance.
The final was a battle between 2017 & 2020 Classic Champion James McFadden and fellow front row occupant McHugh.
A stirring run from Carson Macedo, who only transferred to the A-Main after coming via the B-Main (started ninth), ultimately secured an eighth finishing position in the final. For his efforts Macedo earned the Inspirations Paint of Bendigo Hard Charger Award.
Brock Hallett, whose weekend seemed to go from bad to worse, took the T & D Wholesale, Thomo’s Race Graphix Hard Luck Award, while McFadden claimed the $1500 bonus for taking out the Ian Sheppard Memorial Award, which is given to the driver who accumulates the most points from the President’s Cup, Kings Challenge and The Classic.
Earlier in the night the Steven Loader was presented with the R&M Security, Premier Speedway Maintenance Committee Best Presented Car and Crew Award, earning themselves $2,500 along the way.
