SIDECAR NATIONAL TITLE VENUE SWITCH
After recent changes to the time frame for the reopening of Western Australia, it has become necessary to change the venue for the 2022 Australian Speedway Senior Sidecar Championship and the 2022 Australian Speedway Junior Sidecar Championship.
The scheduled date of April 16 and 17 remains unchanged.
The event will now move to South Australia (Gillman Speedway) with the Speedway Riders Association of South Australia set to become the new event promoter. Motorcycling Australia thanks Club President Ivan Golding and the members of the Speedway Riders Association of SA for their prompt and generous offer to take on the event for 2022.
The club has a proud history of hosting the Speedway Sidecar titles at Adelaide’s Gillman Speedway and has done so four times in the past15 years: 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2017.
Ivan Golding, Club President, Speedway Riders Association of SA said:“The last time we ran the Speedway Sidecar national titles at Gillman Speedway it was a great success and while we don’t have as much time to prepare as we have in the past, we are doing all in our power to make it a huge success in 2022.”
Peter Doyle, Motorcycling Australia, CEO added: “On behalf of Motorcycling Australia and the wider community of speedway competitors and fans, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to the Speedway Riders Association of South Australia for stepping up in this manner so the 2022 Australian Speedway Sidecar Championship can proceed on the original date. I am sure they will do a terrific job as always and put on a memorable event!”
