DAVID LANDER TO HAVE OPEN HEART SURGERY
Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway promoter David Lander will undergo open heart surgery Friday morning, February 18, at Gold Coast Private Hospital.
He will then spend two days in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as part of the recovery process.
Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with David and wife Carol from everyone involved with Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.
The past couple of weeks have been very traumatic after David suffered a heart attack while working in the speedway office on February 9.
He was taken by ambulance to Lismore Base Hospital and following the procedure of usual tests conducted by doctors, it was discovered David had serious artery blockages that required surgery.
Doctors made the decision open heart surgery was required at a Gold Coast hospital.
The irony of what occurred was totally unrelated to the sale of Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.
David had previously discussed the potential sale of the venue with Mick and Kim Sauer with ongoing talks before the signed documentation following completion of negotiations was completed on Friday, February 11 as the agreement was reached in the same week the heart attack occurred.
After arrangements were finalised for the sale and necessary paperwork drawn up, the purchase was signed off by David at Lismore Base Hospital.
It will go down as some of the most dramatic days in the long and illustrious history of Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.
