DARRIN TRELOAR’S 24TH NSW SIDECAR TITLE!
By Mark Neale
Darrin Treloar re-wrote the record books again at Kurri Kurri Speedway Saturday night, February 26, when he won the 24th New South Wales Sidecar Championship of his career and seventh with Blake Cox as his passenger.
It was his forty-second state sidecar championship. Both of these records are not expected to be equalled, or even come close to equalling, in years to come.
Treloar holds the record for the most Australian titles (11), his own NSW title (24) and overall state championship wins (42).
Treloar and Cox went through the heats to finish with a five-ride 15 point maximum that gave the duo first pick of the gate in the final.
Second in the NSW title was Shane Hudson/Adam Constable (13points) while in third was semi final winner Rick Stephens/Nick O”Brien (11 points). Four times winner Grand Bond/Glenn Cox, who scored 14 points in the heats to be the second highest point scorer, were knocked out of any contention after Cox fell from the bike in the final and the duo were excluded.
Bond and Cox were officially placed fourth
