EDINBURGH FACE THE TEST
EDINBURGH expect another big test when they host Championship leaders Leicester at Armadale tonight (Friday – UK time).
The Monarchs lost their last home match against Glasgow but ran the Tigers close in the return fixture, and are back at full strength against the Lions with James Sarjeant lining up at reserve against his former club.
The visitors reach the halfway stage in their league schedule and are yet to win on the road. They bring in Kyle Bickley to guest for the unwell Anders Rowe.
Monarchs reserve Jacob Hook said: “All the boys have been fast when we have been on it, but last time against Glasgow we were just a bit off and were missing the starts and that’s where Glasgow beat us.
“So we need to get back to getting out the start against Leicester who are a good team, that will help us get back to winning ways.”
Lions boss Stewart Dickson said: “Edinburgh is a circuit that several of our riders can get round and have done well on in the past, so we will be travelling there with no fears.
“I know they got heavily beaten in their last home match so we have to be aware there could be a reaction to that, but there’s no reason why we can’t come away with something.”

REDCAR face Poole at the Ecco Arena tonight (Friday) in a clash of two sides currently in the Championship play-off places. The Bears are sixth and have a 100 per cent home record going into the meeting, whilst the Pirates are one place and three points better off having won on the road at Oxford earlier in the season.
Redcar co-promoter Jamie Swales told redcar-speedway.com: “I am very confident about our chances on Friday. We have the riders that can do the job and get the win.”
“Poole are a tough side, but I believe in the capabilities we possess which makes me confident for the meeting.”
Pirates skipper Danny King said: “I am looking forward to the meeting, the track there is a nice shape, and it is always well prepared well.
“They have a solid team, but I fancy our chances in that we can go there and do a job. Obviously we are going to need to be on our game, but after (Wednesday’s) showing there is no reason to think that we can’t get something out of it.”

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey has stressed the importance of tonight’s (Friday) Championship clash with Oxford.
The Scorpions lost their last home fixture against Plymouth, and also missed out at Birmingham last week, but are boosted by the availability of No.1 Ryan Douglas, who crashed in Poland last Sunday.
Meanwhile the Cheetahs once again bring in Chris Harris to guest for the injured Troy Batchelor, whilst Nathan Stoneman stands in for Josh Macdonald at reserve.
Godfrey said: “It’s an important match against Oxford, because we certainly can’t afford another home defeat, so we need to be on it.
“We were privileged to be the visitors on their re-opening night on April 13 – it was fantastic to see such a fabulous stadium staging speedway again in front of such a large crowd. Cheetahs won on that occasion, but we aim to return the compliment and beat them.”
Oxford star Jack Thomas said: “Scunthorpe is a testing track. Everyone feels fast when they practice there but being on track with three other riders is a completely different scenario.
“I’ve changed a few things for this season, hopefully it works and we can come away with some good points. It’s been a busy spell with three away meetings within the week plus two fixtures against Birmingham next week.”
