FRICKE TO DEFEND AUSSIE TITLE
Warsaw Speedway GP round winner Max Fricke finally gets the chance to defend his Australian Championship when the 2022 competition is staged as a one-off final at Adelaide’s Gillman Speedway on December 10.
Fricke lifted his second straight national title in January 2020, but the Aussie series did not take place in 2021 due to the country’s heavy travel restrictions, implemented to control the spread of Covid-19, which rendered interstate travel difficult.
With these restictions eased last March, Aussie bosses are set to finally stage their national title as a one-off event, according to the championship’s official Facebook page.
It also confirms there will be a free-to-air live stream of the event for fans to watch around the world.
Meanwhile, Gillman is also scheduled to stage the FIM Oceania Championship on December 28.
The continental championship was launched in November 2019, with Speedway GP newcomer Jack Holder topping the podium in the inaugural event. But the last two editions of the event have been cancelled due to the pandemic and Holder will be keen to finally defend his crown just after Christmas.
