WOLVERHAMPTON’S NOTABLE VICTORY
WOLVERHAMPTON celebrated their 94th birthday in style as they stormed to their biggest win of the season so far.
The Monmore men beat Sheffield 54-36 to end the Tigers’ unbeaten Premiership start in the process – just as they did in the League Cup earlier in the month.
The match was level at 24-24 after eight races but Wolves produced a tremendous second half display to take the contest beyond their opponents, with the highlight being a superb Heat 11 effort from Rising Star Drew Kemp to pass Sheffield duo Jack Holder and Craig Cook.
Skipper Sam Masters led the way for the hosts with 12+1 and Nick Morris added 12, whilst former Wolves man Tobiasz Musielak scored 12+1 for the Tigers. Wolves manager Peter Adams said: “It looked like it was going to be close at the finish.
“But the boys suddenly found the right set-ups, the right racing lines and some of the overtaking moves were absolutely top drawer.
“The track staff produced a terrific race strip as we saw, and we’ve seen some of the best racing here this season tonight, that’s for sure.”
Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: “They were better than us. We just couldn’t find the set-up and it was one of those nights.
“In general we all struggled a bit; Tobi still isn’t happy but scored a few points and Connor (Mountain) sort of did his bit at reserve, but we just struggled as a team.“I can’t put my finger on it, but will we come back better? We have to and that’s what we’ll try to do.”

KING’S Lynn kept their positive momentum going with a 51-39 local derby win over Peterborough at the Adrian Flux Arena.
The Stars made it back-to-back home wins to leave the reigning champions without a point from their opening four meetings of the Premiership campaign.
Lewis Kerr collected a four-ride paid maximum (11+1) for the hosts, with Richard Lawson (10+2) and Niels-Kristian Iversen (10) also in double figures.
Hans Andersen returned to form for the Panthers with 12 and Michael Palm Toft added 11+2, but a last-heat 5-1 still saw them adrift of a league point.
Stars boss Alex Brady said: “When we did the track walk together, and when we went for the team Nando’s before that, we talked about the importance of this one.
“It was not only about getting three points, it was about making sure they went home with none and we wanted to put on a performance for everyone that came to watch.
“I think we managed to achieve all three of those goals so I am very happy with a job well done.”
Panthers manager Rob Lyon said: “It was another gating lesson I think, and certainly early doors we looked slack at the start.
“The boys weren’t taking advantage of the decent gates which I thought we would have for the first three or four heats, but we did come back into it a little bit later on. “We were hanging on to their shirt tails and at one point I thought we could grab a point, but we just fell short, and it wasn’t to be.”

PLYMOUTH have booked Chris Harris to guest at No.1 in tonight’s (Tuesday) Championship clash with Edinburgh.
Harris stands in for the injured Edward Kennett, whilst the Monarchs travel to the Coliseum without both Lasse Fredriksen and James Sarjeant after recent injury setbacks.
The visitors operate rider replacement for Fredriksen, whilst Sarjeant’s place is taken by 16-year-old Ben Trigger, who makes his first senior appearance at his local track.
The meeting also marks the commencement of Plymouth’s scheme for Under-16s to be admitted for free, with free 2022 season passes to be issued to all under-16s who attend on Tuesday.
Promoter Mark Phillips said: “We are very mindful that it is a unique week in the history of the United Kingdom to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our Queen Elizabeth, who has many connections to our Ocean City of Plymouth.
“It is very apt that our visitors this week will be the Edinburgh Monarchs, from another city with very proud links to the monarchy and Royal Family.
“It’s a school holiday and Bank Holiday week and we want to welcome as many families as possible to Plymouth Speedway to both celebrate with us and to have a great night of entertainment.”

BERWICK’S Ty Proctor has been ruled out of this weekend’s Championship clashes with his former club Leicester. Proctor aggravated nerve damage in his shoulder when he crashed awkwardly against Glasgow last Saturday, in only his second meeting back following a four-week lay-off.
Former Bandits favourite Lee Complin has been booked to guest in both matches against the Lions.
Team manager Gary Flint said: “Ty has metalwork in his neck from an old injury, and when he crashed at Newcastle on May 1 he suffered numbness and pin and needles in his arm which were diagnosed as being connected with the old injury.
“He came back against Redcar last Friday and seemed fine, but took a heavy spill in his first race the following night and, despite completing two more rides, was suffering pin and needles in his arm again.
“We spoke over the weekend and felt it was best for him to sit out this weekend’s fixtures, and Lee is an ideal fit both average-wise and his racing mentality.”
