NEW LISMORE FIXTURE DATE PLANNED
NEW LISMORE FIXTURE DATE PLANNED FOR MAY 5 CANCELLATION
By: Dennis Newlyn
A double booking and date clash issued at the Lismore Showground has meant the original speedway fixture May 5 date has now been cancelled.
This is the result of a planning schedule released by the Lismore Showground Society – Northcoast National – set for the original speedway fixture May 5 date at the ground.
Promoters Kim and Mick Sauer are now working with the respective race associations involved in that original race date to formulate a new fixture night in a revamped schedule.
In a joint statement they said: “We were notified of this date clash with the society only quite recently after our calendar had already been released. Unfortunately we are left with no alternative but to find another date. We sincerely apologise to everyone for what has occurred and we are working non-stop to fix the problem. Thanks for your understanding and co-operation.”
The ground society is hosting the much delayed Ulysses Club (Inc) National Rally – an event plagued with scheduling problems since it was last held in 2016 before it was further struck down with Covid postponement.
The May 5 speedway fixture was set for the New South Wales Wingless Sprint Championship with V8 Dirt Modifieds and Late Models also featured, supported with racing for RSA Street Stocks and RSA Junior Sedans.
The state title for the Wingless Sprints when listed at May 5 was the culmination of three weekends of title racing for the Wingless division featuring the Australian Championship at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway and also the running of the Queensland title.
A new date at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway for the NSW Wingless Sprint Championship will be released as soon as final confirmation comes to hand.
