WORLD SERIES SPRINTCARS CANCELLED 2022-23 SEASON
After a detailed discussion at a Speedway Australia Board meeting, the decision has been made to return to a Sprintcar State Series for the 2022-23 season.
This is in preference to the national World Series Sprintcars tournament. However, there’s the intention to resume the WSS Championship across the country for the 2023-24 season.
Taking advice from all parties, the decision has been made to run with a state-by-state domestic series next season after many considerations were taken into account.
This related to uncontrolled events which surround a tyre supply forecast “getting worse,” plus shipping costs and delays, diesel, accommodation and air fare cost increases and an uncertain COVID-19 future that could seriously affect a national series such as the World Series Sprintcars Championship.
Discussions will now begin with the Sprintcar Control Council of Australia (SCCA) to formulate a States Series draft calendar for the upcoming season.
