Binskin won the hardware for the prestigious Drivers’ Driver award and also took top honours for the Syndicate Communications sponsored Super Series.
A slick and professional presentation was the order of the night, MCd by Peter Styles who was the recipient of the Club Person of the Year award for the fourth time in his racing career with the division.
Representatives from the club’s major sponsors Syndicate Communications, Stones Windscreens, Astral Industries – Alarm & CCTV Security and Strata One also attended.
CELEBRATING 40 YEARS
The night also acknowledged the Litre and Lightning Sprints 40 years of operation after being formed as a breakaway group in 1981.
Jimmy Pyne was a founding member of the Sydney-based Litre cars who shared his memories of those initial years, while he was also joined on stage by Allan Birkett who was the club’s first scrutineer in 1984.

A special award was given to two Victorian women – Allyson Moore (driver and secretary past five years for Victorian Litres) and Maureen Sell (current secretary – prior year president of VM&LS) – who in recent seasons have travelled literally thousands of kilometres to race with the NSW Lightning and Litre Sprintcars.
SYNDICATE COMMUNICATIONS SUPER SERIES
In one of the most keenly contested awards, Binskin’s Super Series (and track championship) honour came after only 71 points separated the top four drivers. Binskin (390 points) won out by only 20 markers from runner-up AJ McTaggart (370), while a mere one point in third was Sean Barnett (369). The top five were rounded out by Sean Dicker (319 points) and Kevin Ottey (282 points).
STRATA ONE HARD CHARGER AWARD
Ottey also took out the Strata One Hard Charger for 2022
BEST PRESENTED AWARD
The race teams clearly stepped up their professionalism when it came to race car presentation in the pits and on the track, so the award for the best presented car and team was obviously going to be keenly contested where Team McTaggart, Binskin Racing, Reed Racing, Stone Racing, Peter Styles and Scott Withers all rated strongly before Reed Racing was awarded the Best Presented trophy for the past season.
ASTRAL INDUSTRIES – ALARMS & CCTV SECURITY ROOKIE AWARD
The Astral Industries – Alarms & CCTV Security Rookie of the Year was partnered by Graham and Jodie Lagerlow as naming rights sponsor.
A number of rookies were contenders for Rookie of the Year honours that was ultimately taken out by Sean Dicker ($300) from Kevin Ottey ($200) and Harley Graham ($100).

With this latest award, Peter Styles is now a four time winner of the Club Person of the Year award. His 2022 honour now matches Clayton Priest as the most times in the 22 years the shield has been presented.
DRIVERS’ DRIVER AWARD
Jordan Binskin overcame a hot field of contenders including Danny Stone, AJ McTaggart, Scott Withers and Harley Graham (all prominent in nominations) to win the highly regarded Drivers’ Driver award.
