GLASGOW’S THRILLING VICTORY
GLASGOW secured a top-two finish in the Championship with a 46-44 win over Redcar in thriller at the Ecco Arena.
The Tigers saw a ten-point advantage clawed back by the hosts and also lost No.1 Craig Cook, who had returned from injury with four straight wins, when he was brought down by Charles Wright in Heat 13.
A 5-1 for the Bears in Heat 14 from outstanding reserve Jordan Jenkins (15+2) and Kasper Andersen put them in front – but stand-in Glasgow skipper Tom Brennan (13) and guest Aaron Summers (11+3) turned the meeting back in the Tigers’ favour with a 5-1 in the decider.
It means they join Leicester as automatic semi-final qualifiers, whilst Redcar remain behind Scunthorpe in the race for the top six, with the sides due to meet on Friday.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “It was a very long, hard night. We were down to the walking wounded at the end, but the boys were fantastic.
“Craig was immense, and he was so unlucky to be taken out yet again through no fault of his own. He looked like he would go unbeaten.
“It didn’t look good after his crash, but we never gave in and I’m absolutely ecstatic to be in the semi-finals again. We need a week or two where we can recover, and that extra break might help us.”

POOLE co-promoter Danny Ford says they will take some consolation from being left to negotiate the Championship play-off quarter-finals.
The Pirates will finish third in the regular table, missing out on a top two finish after Glasgow’s win at Redcar on Sunday.
They are likely to face either Plymouth, Scunthorpe or Redcar in the quarter-finals depending on results over the next week.
Ford said: “We now know our fate is to contest the quarter-finals, but on one hand that could be advantageous as the extra meetings could keep us sharper.
“We have been putting in some good performances and just need to continue doing that.
“We might be out of the top two, but we are far from being out of the title race.”

KENT and Mildenhall fought out a 45-45 draw in the National Development League at Iwade on Sunday.
New Royals signing Max Clegg completed a 15-point maximum in a Heat 15 5-1 for the home side to level the scores, with Ben Morley also unbeaten on 13+2.
The draw was a better result for the Fen Tigers, for whom reserve Josh Warren piled up a remarkable 18+1 score, but they are now six points behind fourth-placed Oxford with one match in hand.
They are seven behind Belle Vue having raced two fewer meetings, whilst Kent are now nine points off the play-off places.

WOLVERHAMPTON welcome back skipper Sam Masters for tonight’s (Monday) televised Premiership clash with Sheffield at Monmore Green.
Masters takes his place in a full-strength Wolves line-up with Steve Worrall also declared fit to race after a heavy crash at Poole last week.
Sheffield hand a debut to new signing Lewis Kerr, and operate rider replacement for Adam Ellis following his injury at Cardiff last weekend.
Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “Sheffield are a team who haven’t quite got going the way some expected yet. They were many people’s pre-season favourites, don’t forget.
“For me though, they’ve still got a very solid, capable side and it’s going to be a tough meeting, especially with Tobiasz Musielak seemingly wanting to prove a point every time he comes back to Monmore Green nowadays.
“It’s really pleasing to be at full strength ourselves; we’re still in a relatively strong position, but there’s still work for us to do.”
Tigers boss Simon Stead said: “A play-off place isn’t mathematically guaranteed just yet, but we know some positive results over these next few weeks will see us get that first objective completed.
“Wolverhampton is never an easy place to go to; we’ve been there twice already this season as a team and experienced two very different results.
“But this is the start of an important run, and it would be good if we could get it up and running by adding some points to the board.”
