BEWLEY IS BRITISH FINAL CHAMPION
DAN Bewley delivered a faultless display to win the Sports Insure British Final Championship at Belle Vue on Sunday.
Bewley raced to six straight wins in a meeting high on entertainment to secure his first senior national crown as he continues a stunning season overall.
The former Aces favourite blasted clear in the Final leaving a major scrap for the remaining rostrum places behind him, with current Belle Vue Rising Star Tom Brennan finishing runner-up ahead of another ex-Aces man Craig Cook, whilst Danny King just missed out on the top three.
Bewley said: “It was great to be back at Belle Vue for this meeting. You always want to win meetings like this but it’s extra special to do it in front of my ‘home crowd’ in Manchester.
“It’s a special feeling to have ticked this one off. It was good to have gone through the card, but it doesn’t mean anything going into the Final.
“You’ve got three other guys next to you that want it as badly as you, so I knew I needed to make a good start, and I’m delighted to have finally won.”
Bewley was also the winner of the inaugural Nigel Pearson Award in a poll voted by supporters. He received 43% of the vote, edging out Kyle Howarth on 32% with the Sheffield and Leicester man also delivering an action-packed display before missing out in the semi-final.

TOM Brennan and Craig Cook both paid tribute to new British Champion Dan Bewley after joining the Cumbrian on the podium at Belle Vue on Sunday.
Brennan’s runner-up spot continues a season of massive progress for the former British U21 title winner, whilst former champion Cook enjoyed a terrific meeting on his old home track despite having spent extensive time on the sidelines of late.
Said Brennan: “To be known as the British No.2 is pretty special, and the amount of work and effort that went into this meeting, for me, was unbelievable.
“It was always in my mind, the previous meeting, what I had done and what I would need to do to replicate that but at the same time, you have to be open-minded.
“My family have been a huge inspiration to me and while it would have been great to win, I’m over the moon with silver and I couldn’t lose to a better man than Dan.”
Cook added: “If you had told me at the start of the meeting that I would be going straight through to the Final then I would have taken that all day long.
“I’ve had a challenging few weeks coping with some injuries, and I really wanted to be able to finish the season on a high and I’ve made some good progress just recently.
“I’m happy with third. I’ve been on the top step before now and I’m very pleased to see Dan experiencing what I experienced when I won, so congratulations to him.”

KENT mounted a dramatic late fightback to defeat Belle Vue 47-43 at Iwade and leave the Colts sweating on their place in the National Development League play-offs.
The visitors led by six points with three races remaining, but the Royals finished with two 5-1s and a 4-2 to keep their own hopes of a top-four finish alive.
Max Clegg and Ben Morley both scored paid maximums (14+1) for the home side, whilst Nathan Ablitt top-scored for the Colts with ten.
Belle Vue co-boss Steve Williams said: “To be honest, we should have done better than we eventually did.
There were places where we lost points we should have won, but the boys did give it their all.
“There were a few tough decisions that went against us that didn’t help, but we’re not making excuses. By our own standards, we simply had a bad day, but there were a few positives to take.
“Now we know we must win at Armadale if we are to secure our place in the play-offs. Our league title bid depends on our success in Scotland.”
The three contenders for fourth place all have one match remaining with Belle Vue on 25 points whilst Oxford and Kent both have 23 – and they meet each other at Cowley on Wednesday.
