WOLVERHAMPTON WASH OUT
WOLVERHAMPTON will now stage their Premiership play-off semi-final home leg against Sheffield next Monday (October 3, 7.30).
Monday’s original attempt was beaten by the weather with riders and officials all in agreement to postpone the fixture.
Wolves co-promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “Hopefully next Monday, the sun will be shining and we’ll be able to recover what we lost.
“What is nice about it is that the two legs will now both be in the same week.
“Rather than being on tenterhooks for ten days, the two meetings are closer together and I’m looking forward to what should be a great battle.”
*Elsewhere, Glasgow and Poole will try again with their Championship semi-final at Ashfield this Saturday (October 1, 3pm) with that meeting now becoming the second leg after Wednesday’s opener at Wimborne Road.

LEGENDARY writer and broadcaster Nigel Pearson has been posthumously inducted into British Speedway’s Hall of Fame.
The award, which marks outstanding commitment to the sport over an extensive time period, was presented to members of Nigel’s family prior to Monday’s ultimately postponed Premiership play-off at Wolverhampton.
The entire sport was shocked by Nigel’s sudden passing just before Easter, and news of the award was warmly received at Monmore – where he had previously worked as track announcer, press officer and programme editor.
BSPL Director Chris Louis said: “Nobody deserves this induction into the Hall of Fame more than Nigel. “He was known as the voice of speedway, but he was so much more than that for British Speedway in particular.
“Personally I was privileged to be able to travel around Europe with him, we had a lot of fun times together, and he was the ultimate professional in what he did.
“I don’t think there’s one trip we’ve made this year where a story about Nigel hasn’t come up, and it’s been nice to share those memories. This award is richly deserved.”
