VEAL LOOKS TO CONTINUE WINNING RUN
Media release by Dennis Newlyn
Can anyone in the 410 Sprintcar division at Eastern Creek Speedway stop the winning run of Jamie Veal this Saturday night, October 29?
Veal was a master class act on show last time out when he blitzed the field on the way to a magnificent 30-lap feature race win.
Veal and the Dyson Motorsport team ran red-hot from the outset and it will take a mighty effort from the other 37 entrants to contain the rampaging Veal.
This is what makes this weekend’s Sprintcar events enthralling. Veal, who has tasted National Championship glory at the division’s pinnacle, is again ready to unleash and is running as hot as a stove.
Jessie Attard came the closest to spoil the Veal after race winning party as he was a fast-finishing runner-up, so it’s certain he will again take the challenge to Veal.
Then’s there’s Robbie Farr, Lachlan Caunt, Jordyn Brazier, Warren Ferguson, Troy Little, Michael Saller and Queensland’s Aaron Kelly – the latter who had to pass a number of cars to get into the top ten.
He copped a bad feature race draw and trailed well out of contention – at one time in lowly position 13 but came on strongly for an eighth placing and was right there. Another ten laps would have made it interesting as Kelly definitely looked every chance of gaining more positions. It was one of the big drives of the main event, along with Jake Baines who also reached the top ten from a position 14 start and finished fifth. Sydney’s former Sprintcar premiership winner Sam Walsh will be looking for a better run out of the #92 car this meeting – and this is a potential winning combination as, at the previous Sprintcar appearance, Walsh was the quickest in lap times of all in the pre-feature race shoot-out events before his car went sour.
The Sprintcar Association of NSW has received a very good nomination list and their main event is eagerly anticipated.
Likewise, interest will also focus on the dynamic Michael Stewart who breezed to a very comfortable win in the Midget feature race and scored maximum points in the first round of the Speedway Classics magazine sponsored ECS Midget feature pointscore for the 2022-23 season when the Midget raced at Eastern Creek on October 15.
Stewart was extremely quick and his winning performance also came on the back of a big drive from the rear of the field after he started out of position 13.
Troy Jenkins has recovered from a severe bout of the ‘flu and has entered Saturday night and looms as a main event contender, as does Matt Jackson and Nathan Smee who has worked with the Graham Racing Development Team this week in preparation for this weekend.
AJ McTaggart is the man to beat in the Lightning Sprints. He is part of a father and son team – his dad, Vic McTaggart has been around the speedway scene for many years, previously in the bike division. Victorian girls Ally Moore and Maureen Sell have entered for the Lightning Sprints part of the programme. Chris Marino is the hot runner in the RSA Street Stocks and will be keen to follow up on his feature race ECS win last time out. Minor feature placegetters runner-up Shaun Davoodi and third-placed Troy Dawes come into contention.
Wingless Sprints have twenty cars nominated with Andrew Seery, Andrew Sayre and Bailey Goodwin the strong runners amongst many. Temporary lighting has been installed at the ECS circuit which means the first three rows of the grandstand seating have been impacted for a short time while new circuit enhanced lightning is finished. ECS promotion apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause to patrons.
