CHAMPIONSHIP LIVESTREAM COVERAGE CONTINUES
FANS of British Speedway will be delighted to hear that the Championship have agreed for its coverage to continue with the British Speedway Network (BSN) in 2023.
The Championship livestreamed 35 meetings through BSN in 2023 – a welcome addition to official broadcast partner Eurosport’s superb and ongoing coverage of the Premiership.
Discussions took place with BSN last week after the conclusion of British Speedway’s AGM, with a unanimous decision made by all nine Championship clubs to continue their partnership with the livestreaming channel following a hugely successful first season together.
BSN will once again visit every Championship venue at least twice in 2023, covering a total of 35 meetings, including major event and play-off coverage. Further details will be offered next week, to coincide with BSN’s Championship Season Pass release, which will be available in time for people wishing to purchase them for Christmas.
BSPL Director Danny Ford commented: “It was terrific to see BSN enjoy such a successful launch season, and I’m sure subscribers will also been impressed by the way the service evolved and improved during the season.
“We were all delighted with what they achieved, essentially starting from scratch, and I know they have exciting plans to make 2023 even better still.”
A testament to the success of BSN’s maiden season is the launch of the BSN Series. The announcement of new tournament was made following last week’s AGM, but its name has been kept under wraps until now.
The BSN Series will open the 2023 season and will feature three regionalised qualifying groups, with the top four qualifiers advancing to the semi-finals, before a series-deciding Final.
The BSN Series will feature heavily as part of BSN’s coverage of the Championship, including coverage of both semi-finals and the Final.
BSN’s Ben Duffill stated: “We’re extremely excited and honoured to acquire the naming rights to the league’s newest tournament and would like to thank the Championship for the opportunity.
“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working alongside each one of the league’s clubs in 2022 and look forward giving the BSN Series wide exposure to our growing fanbase, which spans across the entire globe.”
Ford added: “There have been many competitions which have been season fillers for the Championship over the years, so we wanted a third competition that can become a mainstay for the league and for it to develop some real stature within our sport.
“The team at BSN plan to give the BSN Series a fresh and modern look, and I look forward to working with them on its development.”
