SOUTH AUSSIE GUN LANDS AT J&S
With the major seasonal races now beginning for the J&S Drilling Motorsport outfit, the team are excited to announce their recruit for the 22/23 racing season.
South Australian hard charger, Steven Lines will pilot the W60 for the major races on the west coast for season 22/23 starting with the annual WA Sprintcar Championship at Perth Motorplex this Saturday night, December 3.
Lines is no stranger to the west coast, racing many times over the years and he still holds the one lap track record at Bunbury Speedway with a time of 12.68 seconds.
His knowledge of the Kwinana Beach (Perth, WA) circuit is also profound and he is keen to sink his teeth into his brand new ride. Racing on the bigger tracks here in WA is an opportunity for the Mount Gambier product, one that he will grab onto with both hands, while trying to get a win for his new team in the process.
Team owner, John McLellan is delighted to have Lines in the car for the remainder of the racing season.
“We’re really happy to get Steven in the car for us,” he said. “His experience in the sport is profound and he carries some weight into the team as well.”
A twenty five plus car field will line up for state title glory on Saturday night and Lines knows he will have to bring his A game to be in the fight come feature race time. Racing with many teams across the years will place him in good stead for the season ahead and he is not, in anyway, intimidated by the rivals he will face as the season progresses.
The season will culminate in the biggest challenge of all, being the 60th annual Australian Sprintcar Championship in February, an event that is on the South Aussie’s bucket list.
With laps around the Perth Motorplex circuit completed and under his belt this season, it will place him in good stead for what lies ahead. And with a stellar field of drivers lining up for what will be a strong showing on Saturday night, he is hoping for a top ten finish to start off proceedings.
With the vast amount of racing experience he carries, the team are more than confident that this can be achieved and also place their mark on such a coveted event on the annual racing calendar.
With the driver, the crew chief in Keith Giles and a solid team in support, Saturday night’s title fight is looking to be a great launching platform for the team and one that will hopefully bring good fortunes for the season ahead.
