American Carson Macedo at Eastern Creek Speedway – December 3
CALIFORNIA’S Carson Macedo comes to Eastern Creek Speedway, Saturday night December 3, fresh from a recent career first United States Auto Club Midget feature race win and also after a gruelling season on the World of Outlaws National Sprintcar Championship trail.
This Saturday night, December 3, Carson will be seen in action in both Sprintcar and Midget division events running for Dyson Motorsport Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions race stable.
It’s also the continuation of a very successful partnership between car owner Sean Dyson and Macedo over recent years.
Carson raced for Dyson Motorsport in the recent Californian USAC Midget swing (that also involved Spencer Bayston). A highlight of the west coast commitment was Macedo’s USAC Midget main event win at Merced Speedway. He is not new to the USAC Midget scene after he ran a full 2016 season when he captured Rookie of the Year honours and also a USAC Midwest Regional Championship.
But a main event win had always eluded the Lemoore, California star until it finally became reality in his 37th career USAC National Midget start late last month.
“I’ve won World of Outlaws races, All Star races, but I’ve never won a USAC National Midget race,” Macedo said.
“I told Sean Dyson last year when we raced together that I’d love to win one of these. It’s something I’ve really wanted to cross off my bucket list.”
His USAC Midget campaign in California ended when Carson contested the 81st running of the world famous Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura Speedway which resulted in a ninth placing.
He returns to Eastern Creek Speedway after a tough 69 race campaign on the World of Outlaws Sprintcar National Championship circuit.
He finished third in the final point standings – a mere 114 points short of taking the big prize. However he came away from the WoO 2022 nation wide title-chasing haul with the most successful main event winning performance of the season after he recorded 11 A-Main victories.
It sets the scene nicely for his 2022-23 season debut at Eastern Creek Speedway.
Carson will make six appearances at The Creek with other dates confirmed for December 30, January 1, 4, 6 and 7.
In addition to his December 3 commitment for both Sprintcars and Midgets he will also handle double duty at ECS on January 1 while other dates at the venue will focus specifically on running the Dyson Motorsport Sprintcar entry.
He also has four appearances scheduled for Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway as part of a very busy east coast and southern state race campaign.
There are over 40 Sprintcar entries for Saturday night and the local scene takes on a new image after Marcus Dumesny last weekend broke the out-of-town hoodoo when he became the first NSW (Sydney) Sprintcar feature race winner since the track opened last March.
Brock Hallett has again entered after he was main event runner-up last weekend.
Last week’s Sprintcar feature race fifth placegetter Kaidon Brown also faces a busy Saturday night, running in both Sprintcar and Midget categories.
He was a last start Midget feature race winner at ECS. Sam Walsh was very fast last time out and almost had a major placing almost locked away in the Sprintcar feature race before he dropped back to fourth in the extreme latter stages but he is certain to again be a major contender and serious challenger to Carson Macedo December 3.
Matt Dumesny returns to ECS Sprintcar action this weekend among a very impressive entry list eager to take on the American star.
Current point leader in the ECS-Speedway Classics magazine Midget feature race pointscore Matt Jackson (87 points) will be looking to increase the three point margin he holds over Jay Waugh while third placed Michael Stewart (72) has an opportunity to increase his position on the points ladder after two consecutive feature race wins earlier this season.
Macedo will race against 21 entries from the NSW Association ranks.
Wingless Sprints race officials have received 49 nominations as Victorian Todd Hobson again makes the trip up the freeway to take on the big line-up of Sydney and NSW cars.
