HARRIS RETURNS TO GLASGOW
CHRIS Harris is heading back to Glasgow next season – with unfinished business from his previous spell at Ashfield.
Harris rode for the Tigers four years ago and is now determined to help them take the final step to Championship success, having become their fifth signing of the winter.
He joins Benjamin Basso and Tom Brennan in the heat-leader trio, with Marcin Nowak and Ace Pijper also in the side.
Harris said: “I have a point to prove. Last time in 2018, it just didn’t go to plan. I had a lot of bike issues. Now I’ve got better equipment, it’s time to go back and show the Glasgow fans what I’m all about.
“I’ve been back there with other clubs since and done well. Now I want to do well for the home side.
“I’m always in it to win it, that’s what we are here for. I’ve not won the second tier of British speedway since 2000 with Exeter, we are talking about 22 years! “I was out of the league for a long time, but I want to win it with Glasgow.”

PLYMOUTH have named GB star Kyle Howarth as their No.1 for the 2023 Championship season.
Howarth led Leicester to the top of the table this year but required a new club in the second tier after the Lions moved into the Premiership, and was keen to join the Gladiators after instigating talks with team manager Garry May.
Said Howarth: “Plymouth have been in the Championship for two seasons now and I have guested for them a few times and ridden against them.
“I enjoy working with Gaz and I have had no problems with (promoter) Mark Phillips, whenever I have met him.
“I know Garry is a man that wants to win titles, he’s a passionate man that knows how to play his team right and I didn’t want to sign for any old club, I wanted to sign for a club that would be running at the top because I want to win stuff. “I want trophies and I want to add stuff to my CV. It was a no-brainer, really.”

BIRMINGHAM now have just one team spot left to fill after Alfie Bowtell agreed to join the club from Plymouth.
Bowtell ended the season on the sidelines with knee ligament damage but is now well on his way back to full fitness and keen to continue his progress in the Championship.
Brummies manager Laurence Rogers said: “Alfie is a rider who always gives 110 per cent when he’s out there, and he never gives up and never stops trying. “He had a few meetings at Perry Barr last season and, particularly when he rode for us, we were impressed.
“Alfie has made some pretty good progress with Plymouth over the past couple of seasons and this year especially, he showed some really good form in the main body of their team. “We’re confident, and Alfie is confident, he can kick on even further at a track he enjoys riding even more, and he’s a really good person to have around the club as well.”

EDINBURGH have confirmed the return of Australian youngster Jacob Hook for a second season with the Monarchs.
The 20-year-old scored 114 points in his debut campaign and becomes the third rider to be announced for the Armadale side next year, following Josh Pickering and Kyle Bickley.
Hook said: “I’m super-excited to be coming back next season, I really enjoyed my first year. I found it a tougher year than I thought it would be, I had expected to do a lot better but I have learnt a lot.
“I did find Armadale quite tricky at first, but I gradually came to like it more than most of the tracks. It can give you a home track advantage.”
