SEDGEMAN BEST AT WOFFINDEN CLASSIC
Aussie racer Justin Sedgmen topped the podium as triple world champion Tai Woffinden lined up in Perth to honour his late father’s memory in the Rob Woffinden Classic on Saturday., February 4.
Competing at Pinjar Park, the venue Rob helped build along with a number of speedway parents, Woffinden finished joint-top of the heat score chart with 13 points from five rides along with Queensland ace Ryan Douglas.
But it was Sedgmen who came out on top in the six-rider final. After racing to 12 points in the heats, he won the meeting ahead of 2020 FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Jaimon Lidsey in second.
Lidsey scored 11 points from his five heat outings as he returned from the broken wrist, which kept him out of last month’s Aussie Championship.
Douglas was fourth in the final, with semi-final top two Luke Killeen and Cooper Riordan fifth and sixth respectively. Killeen scored 11 in the heats, while Riordan collected seven.
Cameron Heeps scored 10 points from five rides, but he finished behind Riordan and Killeen in the semi-final. Dakota Ballantyne was fourth in the race after qualifying with seven points.
