MILBURN TAKES NYORA ALL STARS FEATURE
In front of a packed house at Nyora Raceway, the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Series put on a hell of a show for the 30 lap A-Main with local hero Brett Milburn taking out the win.
In the V#68 Cool Chassis, Brett showed just why he has been an Australian 360 Champion.
He took his time running in third for most of the race waiting and preserving his tyre, all the time watching Chris Solomon and Mark Caruso up front. Solomon looked comfortable in his new ride for the night and the B&B Retaining Walls J&J was high points starting on pole position.,
He led the race for 28 of the 30 laps until his right rear tyre blew. Caruso had challenged Solomon for the lead several times and was now in first position but with only one lap to go, his tyre blew also but he managed to cross the line finishing in eleventh.
“I haven’t raced at Nyora for a while and to come to your home track where you have learnt all your grass roots racing and have good car speed straight off the bat, in front of a home town crowd is always good. I could see that the front two had tyre issues so I just waited my time watching them, sometimes it’s better to be safe, ” Milburn said at the post race interview
Todd Hobson returned to form and took out the TEH Hard Charger & the Maxis Keep on Fighting Award after moving forward 11 positions in the A-Main to come home in second. In doing so, he also lived up to the special Maxie’s Keep on fighting theme and never gave in on the night. Victory Lane Racegear’s V88 was also rewarded with their young pilot Jett Bell putting it on the podium for third place. This is Bell’s first full time season in a Sprintcar and he has shown more talent each time he has taken to the track. Todd Moule crossed the line in fourth and Kane Newcombe rounded out the top five.
Rookie Chris Temby in the Foster Transport V18 had engine gremlins all night and was the first to pull infield in the main event. Boyd Harris rode the turn four wall, though he walked away but his car wasn’t as lucky ending his night on lap 17. Dan Scott was another driver whose car mounted the wall in turn four with only five laps remaining.
Heat race wins went to: Brett Milburn, Mark Caruso, Steven Loader and Todd Hobson.
