FARRER: FLAG TO FLAG

On a hot summer night at Moama the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Series main event went flag to flag with an elated Brenten Farrer coming home in first place, February 18.
Starting on pole for the feature race, Farrer didn’t have it all his way with young gun Chris Temby, driving the Fosters Transport V#18, getting the start and leading the early stages. The Foster/Temby combination had been busy through the week replacing the engine they damaged last weekend at Nyora.
Farrer managed to pass Temby when lapped traffic came into play. Current point’s leader Mark Caruso was also hot on the tail tanks of the two front runners for a few laps before he managed to pass Temby for second.
With only a couple of laps left, Caruso made a couple of attempts to get under Farrer but couldn’t get it done and settled for second at the chequered flag. Cyclone Solomon was also moving up the field and gaining on the first two cars before coming home in third. Chris Temby finished fourth and Kane Newcombe rounded out the top five.
Early in the night the track wasn’t kind on tyres but as the sun set it allowed the immense amount of water the track held to ease the tyre situation.
The feature was shortened to 25 laps instead of 30 early in the night just to be on the safe side but it wouldn’t have mattered as tyres weren’t a problem by this stage. “It was a credit to all the track prep guys fighting temperatures in the 40s for a few days to keep the track in condition and the immense amount of water they poured into it the during the week, worked,” All Stars’ Searle said after the feature.
After destroying his car last weekend and rebuilding during the week, BJ Harris had engine gremlins at the start of the night. The team worked hard and managed to find the problem and won the Maxis Keep on Fighting Award for all their effort.
Jarreth Argus took out the TEH Hard Charger award. After setting quickest time in his group, Todd Moule’s night was done before it started with the team retiring with engine problems.
Dan Scott was another to burn the midnight oil through the week after a crash at Nyora. The team have been having mechanical issues for weeks and finally managed to fix the problem and had a solid result for the night at Moama with a place.
