V8 Dirt Modified drivers will have the final opportunity this Saturday night, April 1, at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway to prepare for the national title at the venue the following week.
The Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship, which was first held in 1991, will be contested by the nation’s best over two nights (April 8-9).
For two times national titleholder Andrew Pezzutti, this coming weekend is very significant, as he was one of the early national title winners in 1993. The run presents an ideal opportunity to tune up for the 2023 Australian Championship.
“It’s certainly good to put down some laps in the week leading up to the national title and I hope to make the most of this weekend. I certainly want to be competitive at the business end of the championship,” he said.
The V8 Dirt Modifieds at the April 1 fixture will be supported with racing for Speedcars, Wingless Sprints, Compact Speedcars, Lightning Sprints, RSA Four Cylinder Sedans and Compact Speedcars in a big variety programme.
The local Lightning Sprints line-up includes New South Wales and Queensland Champion Kurt Wilson.
The V8 Dirt Modified entry list features the appearance of former NSW Champion Phil McNamara.
“The early part of April is a very important time for the V8 Dirt Modified division. This weekend’s meeting is the countdown to what promises to be one of the best national titles for V8 Dirt Modified seen in years,” co-promoter Kim Sauer said.
