Kerry Madsen will drive the Vermeer Motorsports #55 for the remainder of the current American season.
The Tony Vermeer team, based in Indianapolis, plans to continue to compete for an owners championship with the Tezos All Stars and will contest the big events such as the Eldora Million and Kings Royal events at Eldora Speedway, as well as the prestigious Knoxville Nationals.
2023 Eldora Million at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway
Madsen won the 31st Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in 2014 and has loads of experience at both Eldora and Knoxville in the track’s biggest races.
Vermeer started the season with Hunter Schuerenberg behind the wheel before the two parties mutually parted ways just before Ohio Sprint Speedweek.
Michael “Buddy” Kofoid drove the Vermeer car to a tie in the Ohio Sprint Speedweek points standings, before he lost the tiebreaker to eventual champion Tyler Courtney. Kofoid joined Roth Motorsports in a second car to compete in the big races for the remainder of the season, including a near win at the Huset’s Nationals over the weekend where he led late before suffering engine problems.
Madsen has competed in the Guy Forbrook #5 car during a handful of races at Knoxville this season.
The Vermeer team’s first event together will be this weekend at Knoxville Raceway to shake the car down before the Eldora Million on July 12-13.
