TWO TIMES WORLD CHAMPION MICK HEADLAND CONFIRMED FOR CENTENARY EVENT
Speedway sidecar legend, former two times World Champion, Mick Headland, has confirmed his team’s participation, in the prestigious Australian Speedway Centenary at North Brisbane Speedway.
Headland, along with his hugely talented passenger, Brenton Kerr, are welcome additions to what promises to be a world class field of superstars, contesting the Sidecar Centurions Trophy, on night one of the Centenary event, to be staged on December 28.
The Headland/Kerr combination will provide solid opposition for the likes of triple and reigning Australian Champions, Mark Plaisted/Ben Pitt and eleven times national title holder, Darrin Treloar and Blake Cox, the first two teams to commit to the December 28 showdown (separate media release to follow).
The hard-charging Mick Headland has been a star on the national speedway sidecar scene for many years and his inclusion adds yet another huge name to the list of dirt track gladiators taking part in what is shaping as an event for the ages.
“I’ve raced at most venues in the world, but ironically, I’ve not raced at North Brisbane Speedway before. But, based on what I’ve been told, it’s a very fast track, which will suit us,” Mick Headland enthused.
“The two night Australian Speedway Centenary is a fantastic initiative and we are rapt to be a part of it. The competition will be fierce and we’re going to Brisbane to win the Centurions Trophy.”
Further news relating to rider signings, in Sidecars (December 28) – and Solos (December 29), will be released in coming days/weeks, as will all admission ticket pricing details. For further details regarding the 2023 Australian Speedway Centenary, email: speedwayprojects1@gmail.com
