QUEENSLAND CHAMPS ADDED TO SIDECAR FIELD FOR AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
Reigning Queensland Sidecar Champions, Tyler Moon and Adam Lovell, have been confirmed as starters in the prestigious Sidecar Centurions field, to contest night one (December 28) of the Australian Speedway Centenary, at North Brisbane Speedway.
Aged 29 and 27 respectively, Moon and Lovell, are a gun pairing on the national sidecar scene and the North Queenslanders are a welcome addition to what will be a world class line-up of dirt track gladiators.
The duo have been in scintillating form, winning the Queensland Championship, finishing runner-up in the South Australian Championship and emerging victorious in the Sidecar Gold Cup, at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide. Moon and Lovell also finished runner-up in the prestigious Bob White Cup, to underline a tremendous campaign last season.
Moon, a second generation racer (he is the son of the late, great Gary Moon); has also won the Barrier Reef 1000 on two occasions and, has fittingly, stormed to victory in the race honouring his late father, the Gary Moon Memorial, twice.
“We had a good season last summer and Adam and I are striving to up the ante,” Tyler explained.
“It’s a tough sport and to succeed, good preparation is everything. There are a lot of great teams on the national scene and the field for the Australian Speedway Centenary will be the best in the world.
“We’re really pumped about this meeting, at North Brisbane. It’s going to be an awesome two-night Festival of Speedway with the world’s best sidecars on night one and an amazing field of solo stars appearing on night two (December 29). We’re going there to win it”.
Moon and Lovell join Mark Plaisted/Ben Pitt, Darrin Treloar/Blake Cox, Brodie Cohen/Josh Murray, Andrew Buchanan/Denny Cox, Mick Headland/Brenton Kerr and Dave Bottrell/Darcy Risstrom as the big name teams announced, thus far, for the invitation only Centurions event.
