BRITISH SUPER STAR DAN BEWLEY SIGNS FOR AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
In what can only be described as a major coup, event organisers have secured the brilliant Dan Bewley to contest the upcoming Australian Speedway Centenary, at North Brisbane Speedway, on December 29.
The 24 year old, Maryport, Cumbria (UK) born British speedway super star, joins Tai Woffinden (GB), Chris Holder (AUS) and a host of international stars named thus far to contest the prestigious 500cc Solo Centurion, on night two, of the Centennial meeting.
Bewley, a key member of Team Great Britain which finished runner-up to Poland in last weekend’s World Team Cup Final, is a three time SGP winner, having stood on top of the podium at the British Grand Prix (2022), Wroclaw Grand Prix (2022) and Swedish Grand Prix (2023). He has also helped Great Britain win the FIM Speedway of Nations in 2021 and claimed the British Championship in 2022.
The deal between organisers of the Australian Speedway Centenary and Dan Bewley was finalised 24 hours ago, after event co-promoter, Darcy Ward, attended the World Cup Final in Poland.
“I’m thrilled that Dan will be appearing in the Centurion event,” Darcy said.
“He’s a fabulous rider, a real goer and I’m over the moon that this kid will be a massive part of our event.
“Dan has stated that I’m his hero, which is very humbling indeed. He was telling me on the weekend that he used to study my riding style and he’s done a great job in his career so far.
“I truly believe that Dan Bewley has the talent and speed to take it right up to Bartosz Zmarzlik in the years ahead. There are few better sights in world speedway than Dan Bewley on the charge and race fans will not want to miss this guy in full flight at North Brisbane Speedway on December 29 this year,” Darcy concluded.
Meantime, Dan Bewley, says he can’t wait to ride in Australia this summer.
“I’m rapt this deal is finalised,” Bewley enthused.
“The Australian Speedway Centenary looks a brilliant idea and it’ll be a cracking meeting.
“On the way to Aussie I’ll be stopping off in Thailand for a holiday, so I’ll be well rested and ready to rip in Brisbane on December 29. I’m really looking forward to it,” Bewley enthused.
The Australian Speedway Centenary is being staged over two nights, on December 28 and 29, 2023, with the world’s best sidecars headlining night one (Sidecar Centurions) and international solos (500cc Solo Centurion) featuring on night two.
