JASON DOYLE FOR THE AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
JASON DOYLE CONFIRMS HIS ONLY AUSTRALIAN APPEARANCE THIS SUMMER WILL BE AT THE AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
In a major coup, organisers of the upcoming Australian Speedway Centenary, have secured Australia’s 2017 World Speedway Champion, Jason Doyle, as a definite starter in what will be his only Down Under appearance this summer.
The thirty seven year old, Newcastle (NSW) born international, is a genuine superstar on the world speedway stage and his inclusion in the field, contesting the December 29, Solo Centurions Trophy, means there are now three World Champions lining up in the event. Doyle joins fellow New South Welshman, Chris Holder and Great Britain’s Tai Woffinden, all of whom have won multiple FIM Gold Medals in their stellar careers.
Jason Doyle, currently in blistering form in the 2023 World Speedway Grand Prix Series, has been an SGP finalist on 23 occasions (for 6 victories) and he was a key member of the Australian team that won the 2022 Speedway of Nations. The Novocastrian was also the 2015 Australian Champion and has won numerous major meetings in the UK and Europe in individual and teams competition.
“The Australian Speedway Centenary meeting, on December 29, at North Brisbane Speedway, will be Jason’s only Australian appearance this summer,” said co-promoter, David Tapp.
“Doyley has a busy schedule and we’re absolutely thrilled that he has agreed to take part in the Centenary event. He’ll literally be flying in from the UK, racing at the event and then returning to the UK so he can focus on preparations for next year’s racing schedule abroad.”
Meantime, Jason Doyle says he considers it a huge honour to contest the Australian Speedway Centenary.
“I’m really excited to confirm I’ll be racing at North Brisbane Speedway in the 100 year celebration of our sport,” Jason enthused.
“To be invited to race in this special meeting will be something I cherish forever. Also, to race under the promotion of Darcy Ward and Tappy is also special. Growing up as a kid, all I remember, in speedway terms, was the Series 500 International Masters event that Tappy staged every year.
“I know this will be a great show, not just another speedway meeting. I can’t wait to ride in front of Aussie speedway fans at what will be my only appearance in Aussie this summer. See you all on December 29.”
Jason Doyle joins Chris Holder (NSW), Tai Woffinden (GB), Dan Bewley (GB), Adam Ellis (GB), Rohan Tungate (NSW), Ryan Douglas (QLD), Tate Zischke (QLD) and Declan Kennedy (QLD) as the riders confirmed, thus far, that will be contesting the prestigious 500cc Solo Centurions, at the two night Australian Speedway Centenary.
More rider announcements will be made in coming days.
