AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY: STUART FIRTH READY TO RUMBLE
Brisbane based sidecar veteran, Stuart Firth, is the next big name rider announced as a certain starter, in the Australian Speedway Centenary, to be held at North Brisbane Speedway on December 28 and 29.
Firth, a heavy hitter on the national scene for two decades, is teaming up with Jason Martin, who’s also an established road racing star, to contest the Sidecar Centurion Classic on night one (December 28), of the two night Centennial celebration.
Stuart Firth is taking the 2023/24 racing season very seriously, reflected by the fact he’s currently in the process of building three new Suzuki GSXR 1000 engines for his upcoming summer campaign.
Firth, finished runner-up in the 2005 Australian Speedway Sidecar Championship and has also won the Australian Longtrack Championship and finished on the podium on another occasion. He has been a prolific placegetter in the Queensland Championship, over an extended period and has finished on the podium in the prestigious Gary Moon Memorial.
Meantime, Stuart’s passenger, Jason Martin, has won the Queensland Road Racing Championship, multiple times, as well as numerous victories in the Australian Championship, in a variety of classes.
“This is huge. Jason and I are rapt to be invited into the field for night one of the Australian Speedway Centenary,” Firth enthused.
“The event is being held in my own backyard and I want to give this meeting everything I’ve got. We’re preparing a number of new engines to embark on an all-out assault and being competitive at the Sidecar Centurion event is my main focus.
“The organisers are assembling a stellar field and no speedway fan will want to miss this. The Australian Speedway Centenary is not just another speedway meeting. It’s a very special 100 year celebration and every rider will be going to North Brisbane to win it”.
