Jason Crump will appear at the event, as a special guest, thus being honoured with numerous tributes, including; a “career feature” that will be produced by Power Productions for the big screen being bought into the stadium for the event. The “Jason Crump Career Tribute” will also be shown on the event’s live stream coverage and TV content screening on Fox Sports.
“Everyone knows what Jason Crump achieved in this sport and it’s only right that we pay tribute to him at the sport’s Centenary celebration,” said David Tapp.
“Crumpy is a very big deal in this sport and I’m excited that Darcy Ward and I will be honouring him in the most appropriate way. He is an out and out legend and we’re thrilled that he will form an integral part of the Australian Speedway Centenary”.
Jason Crump, meantime, says he’s humbled.
“I don’t go looking for recognition such as the tribute that’s been proposed for the Australian Speedway Centenary, but I’m nonetheless very humbled.
“I’m looking forward to attending the event and catching up with the many people that have played a role in my career and my life. I think it’ll be a fantastic event”.
Darcy Ward says Jason Crump is a role model for all young riders and his achievements on the world stage cannot be underestimated.
“What Crumpy achieved was amazing and he did it in an incredibly tough era that included the likes of Tony Rickardsson, to name just one of the superstars, of what was a golden era,” Darcy enthused.
“Every Aussie kid riding a speedway bike wanted to be Jason Crump and he deserves the recognition that will be bestowed upon him”.
Jason Crump will be the star attraction in the Cavalcade of Legends being planned to honour the achievements of many of the sport’s all-time greats that will be in attendance.
