AUSSIE STAR DOYLE CRASHES AT VOJENS
Aussie star Jason Doyle has confirmed he suffered no broken bones in his DeluxeHomeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens crash on Saturday.
Doyle caught Swedish star Fredrik Lindgren’s back wheel after picking up some unwanted drive in heat five, with both riders hitting the deck.
The Newcastle-born racer was taken to hospital for checks and played no further part in the penultimate Speedway GP of 2023.
But posting on Instagram later that evening, Doyle updated his fans on his condition. He simply wrote: “Thanks for the support. Nothing broken.”
The series concludes with the FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun on September 30. Doyle is currently eighth in the standings, but he is already guaranteed a spot in the 2024 series after winning the FIM GP Challenge in Gislaved, Sweden on August 19.
Shaken Doyle escaped injury in GP crash but unfit for league clash
IPSWICH star Jason Doyle has been ruled out of the first leg of the Witches’ Sports Insure Premiership play-off semi-final at Belle Vue.
Doyle crashed heavily in the Danish GP on Saturday and although he remarkably escaped with no broken bones, he is not fit to take his place at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday.
The Witches have booked Chris Harris to guest in his place, whilst Jack Smith stands in for Dan Thompson at No.7.
Manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “After his awful crash, it is great news that Doyley has nothing broken – but as I’m sure anyone will have seen it will understand, he is feeling pretty second hand after one hell of a whack.
“He is not in a fit enough position to race at Belle Vue and Chris comes in as a guest. We all know Bomber very well and you know what you are getting, and I’m sure he will do a great job.
“Belle Vue have been the outstanding team in the league, and they are the reigning champions and have been the best team so far.
“We are going to need to be at the top of our game but over the two legs if we perform as we can do, we can win, cause a shock and knock them out.”
