SAM MASTERS FOR AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
Former Australian Champion, 32 year old, Newcastle born, Sam Masters, is the latest international rider to be added to the field, for the Ikon Suspension 500cc Solo Centurion Classic.
Masters will appear on night two (December 29), of the upcoming Australian Speedway Centenary, at North Brisbane Speedway. His inclusion further boosts what is already a world class field being assembled for the high profile Centennial event.
Sam Masters won the Australian Championship in 2017 and has been a regular on the international stage, since debuting in British racing with Somerset in 2010. He has also ridden for Poole, King’s Lynn, Edinburgh, Leicester, Wolverhampton and Oxford. The Novocastrian also boasts an extensive resume racing in Poland, Sweden and Denmark.
Sam’s other achievements include victories in the British Division 2 Riders’ Championship (twice), the NSW and Victorian Speedway Championships and the Scottish Open. He has ridden in three SGPs and four World Cup events.
“The Australian Speedway Centenary is shaping up well and it will be a true honour to ride in the event,” Masters said.
“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of the sport’s 100 year celebration? I’m going to North Brisbane to race hard and give a good account of myself. I’ll be ready come December 29!”
Sam Masters (NSW) joins an elite line up, which includes; Tai Woffinden (GB), Dan Bewley (GB), Adam Ellis (GB), Chris Holder (NSW), Jason Doyle (NSW), Rohan Tungate (NSW), Jaimon Lydsey (VIC), Ryan Douglas (QLD) and local young guns Tate Zischke (QLD) and Declan Kennedy (QLD).
Further rider announcements will be made in coming days.
