JASON KENDRICK HOPING FOR A CHANGE OF LUCK
Having an ounce of luck is all that is separating Jason Kendrick from winning a feature race in the 2023-24 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar series – says his father and team principal Geoff Kendrick.
Jason heads into the third round of the series at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night, November 18 with confidence, despite results not going his way in the first two rounds.
The season opener saw him puncture a left front tyre and at the last show he finished fourth, when a higher placing was beckoning.
“We were very happy with the last show, we won our heat and finished second in our Dash and we got to the lead at one point in the feature race – I think we had a really good car,” Geoff said.
“Jason broke a tear off when he went to grab one of the tabs and he was able to clear that in a restart, but then the wing valve, which controls the wing position in the car, broke and the top wing kept sliding back six inches.
“What many don’t realise is in the latter stages Jason drove with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the lever to keep adjusting the wing, and unfortunately at one point he tagged the fence and dropped back to fourth, but he did an amazing job to bring the car home.
“He still maintained great pace which we will take into the Scardifields Smash Repairs King of Wings this Saturday night
“I would like to thank Frank and his family for again offering up a bonus package which I’m sure will get the interest of the drivers, as well as the racefans – this is great for the sport and the contributions and input from Frank can never be undersold.”
