DAVE PARKER APPOINTED RACE DIRECTOR FOR AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
One of Australia’s most successful speedway motorcycle racing administrators, Dave Parker, has been appointed Race Director for the Australian Speedway Centenary, being staged a North Brisbane Speedway, on December 28 and 29.
Parker, a former placegetter in the Australian Sidecar Championship (racing with Dave Adams); gained tremendous notoriety, across the world, resulting from the pivotal role he played in establishing Gillman Speedway, in Adelaide, as arguably Australia’s leading speedway bike facility.
The vastly experienced Parker has also served as Chairman of the Australian Speedway Commission and fulfilled numerous other senior administrative roles within the sport (in addition to being the major driving force at Gillman over an extended period). Dave was also the co-promoter of the highly successful Sidecar Grand Slam Series.
Australian Speedway Centenary event spokesperson, David Tapp, says that Dave Parker is a welcome addition to the crew at North Brisbane Speedway.
“Dave is one of the world’s most experienced speedway event organisers and administrators and Darcy Ward and I are thrilled that he will be involved with running the huge Centennial event.
“We have a lot to get through over the two nights and having a guy like Dave on board will help ensure the run sheet stays on track at all times.
“The Australian Speedway Centenary is not just another speedway meeting. There are a lot of extra things going on, in and around the main racing program, on both nights, and Dave’s experience and expertise will be invaluable in helping us ensure the production schedule runs to time.”
