GSA ADVANCED MACHINING ULTIMATE SPEEDCAR CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3
By Barry Lane
Speedcar action returns to the Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway on Saturday, February 24 for Round Three of the GSA Advanced
Machining Speedcar Series and with twenty-four cars nominated, the racing will again be hotly contested.
Last round winner Troy Ware will again be hard to beat with Scott Farmer, Casey O’Connell, Dylan Menz, Sydney driver Nathan Smee and half a dozen others set to make it tough for him to repeat.
One driver who has taken to Speedcar racing like a duck to water is third generation racer, Harry Stewart. He has developed his skills very quickly and can get behind the wheel of a sprintcar, compact speedcar or speedcar and be competitive. In fact, he won the Australian Compact Speedcar Championship at Toowoomba in 2023.
Another to watch is Mackay based Brent Aprile. He is better known in sprintcar racing circles, but this season also took up speedcar racing. He has adapted to the smaller car with ease and has shown good speed and it would not surprise to see him on the podium. His plan is to be able to race in both sections on the one night to make his journey from Mackay more worthwhile.
With the points tight at the top of the series leader board and only ten points separating the top five the racing will be intense and guaranteed to provide plenty of wheel-to-wheel action. Don’t miss it.
