QUEENSLAND V8 DIRT MODIFIED TITLE FOR TOOWOOMBA SPEEDWAY MARCH 16
The 2024 V8 Dirt Modified Queensland Championship is coming to the high banks of Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec-Oils Toowoomba Speedway, Saturday night, March 16.
This event incorporates round four of the 5 Star Dirt Series.
A stellar field of drivers and teams from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria have nominated for this Saturday night.
The general consensus is that this year’s title is going to be one of the hardest to win because of the high car count, quality of cars and drivers who have nominated.
Current Queensland Champion Kevin Britten is back to defend his title and is in good form after winning the NSW Championship last weekend. The field boasts some of the country’s best and will battle in what is tipped to be a fantastic night of action packed racing on the high banks of Hi-Tec-Oils Speedway.
The field is packed full of the best V8 Dirt Modified drivers in the country and this weekend everyone will need to be on their A-game. David Clark is another driver in good form and certainly knows his way around Toowoomba’s high banks. Clark won the Victorian title last weekend in an exciting double header which saw the NSW and Victorian Championships fought out over one weekend. Clark passed Britten with 10 laps to go to win the Victorian event. The two will go head-to-head on Saturday night, one to defend and one to claim the Queensland state trophy to add to his resume. Toowoomba’s Ray Klarich also in the mix along with Andrew Pezzutti and Mark Robinson who have been impressive and are more than capable of winning. Victorian Steven Milthorpe is another to watch on Saturday night. It’s going to be difficult to win the Queensland crown this season considering it’s been run over three rounds of heats and a 30-lap feature which also includes the all important pole shuffle to determine who starts at the front of the feature race.
Super Sedans make their return to Toowoomba this weekend for the Jack Childs Memorial Twin Feature Challenge which doubles as round three of the Ultimate Super Sedan Championship. Newly crowned Australian Champion Darren Kane tops the nominations after he created history recently when he won his fifth Australian Super sedan Championship. To have the Ian Boettcher Race Parts Australia 1 Team back in Queensland and in Toowoomba on Saturday night will be well received.
Sean Black cannot be ruled out of contention and is always quick on his home track. Steve Jordan has always shown plenty of speed at Toowoomba and is certainly a fan favourite. He will undoubtedly put on a show for the race fans this weekend.
There is plenty of young talent in the field, with the likes of Hayden and Zac Brims and JJ Hamilton who is definitely a young man going places in the Queensland Super Sedan ranks.
Saturday night will see two twin 24 lap feature races. The first feature race starting positions are based on points from the heats after the two rounds, the second feature will be inverted based on finishing positions from the first feature. An interesting twist which will make both feature races exciting to watch.
The night will also feature a fantastic support program with the Legend Cars Queensland Championship and the Engage Ag Ironman Series and Junior Sedans. Tickets are on sale now and for more information and updates on this coming weekend go to Hi-Tec-Oils Toowoomba Speedway Facebook page.
