TOOWOOMBA’S LATE MODEL DOUBLE HEADER
It’s been talked about now for over 12 months and now it’s finally here after the announcement that the Queensland Late Model Championship will be held on Wednesday night April 24 and the Australian title will be decided two days later on Friday and Saturday nights April 26 and 27.
Anzac Day will allow teams and race fans to attend ANZAC Day services and to service and prepare their cars for the Australian title. An opportunity also there to take in the sights of the Toowoomba region and the Calcutta on Thursday night hosted by Ben Bishop.
A field of 42 Late Models are set for both the Cush Clothing Queensland Championship and Hanceys Turf Australian title. It’s the biggest field of Late Models ever seen in Queensland and the second time in history the national title has been held in the Sunshine State.
American Pierce McCarter, from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a confirmed starter driving for Shane Belk Racing. He is part of a two car team alongside current Australian Late Model Champion Brent Vosbergen (Western Australia). Darren Kane, current Australian Super Sedan Champion and two time winner of the Late Model national crown and four time Queensland Champion has entered. He will be joined from the Super Sedan ranks by Mitchell Gee and Brad Pascoe as well as former National Champion Callum Harper who is making the trip from Tasmania, as well as Pittsworths Zack Hudson who joins the impressive line up.
Australian Sprintcar Champion Lachlan McHugh has also nominated and will drive the Domain Ramsey owned car from Victoria and can’t wait to tackle the event with his father Jamie a former Super Sedan National Champion as crew chief, along with Sydney Late Model car owner Des Disney.
Hi- Tec-Oils Speedway will host a fan Appreciation Session on Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm in the fan zone at the track. There will be cars on display plus driver interviews.

It’s been a while since Toowoomba has seen a Demolition Derby and to finish off a summer of speed at Hi-Tec-Oils Speedway, 24 of Australia’s best Demolition Derby drivers have nominated for Queensland vs New South Wales finale that will signal the end of the 2023/24 Toowoomba Speedway season in the best way possible.
