AMERICAN STAR LUKE BECKER ADDED TO SOLO LINE-UP FOR IKON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY MASTERS
American speedway star, Luke Becker, has been added to the line-up of international stars being assembled to contest night two (December 28), of the Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters.
The twenty five year old, from Brentwood in California, starred for the American team in the recent Speedway of Nations, producing several barnstorming rides, including victories over the likes of Poland’s four time World Champion, Bartosz Zmarzlik.
Luke Becker, who has been mentored by four-time World Champion, Greg Hancock, will contest the Leigh Adams Medal, being staged at Gillman Speedway Stadium, as an integral part of the two-night international speedway blockbuster.
Becker, the reigning and three-time AMA American Champion, has also enjoyed strong success in Europe, including victories in the 2023 Polish League with Falubaz Zielona Gora and the Danish League, with the Esbjerg Vikings. In 2024, the Californian has league contracts in England, Denmark and Sweden.
“Luke Becker is a big addition to the field contesting the Ikon International Speedway Masters,” said organiser David Tapp.
“Becker is a hard charger and after recovering from a badly broken leg, sustained in Slovakia early last year, he has continued to impress with very solid form and a strong desire to reach the top level of the sport.
“I was super impressed with Luke in the recent Speedway of Nations, so I reached out to the former American World Champion, Billy Hamill, who couldn’t speak highly enough of his compatriot. Billy told me Luke’s got a “kick-arse” attitude and is a “real pro”, so I moved quickly to entice him to Australia.”
Meanwhile, Luke Becker, says he’s pumped about his trip Down Under.
“I can’t wait to get to Aussie and ride in the ISM24. I’ve heard so much about the International Speedway Masters of yesteryear from all the American legends that rode in the tour previously, like Sam Ermolenko, Billy Hamill and my main mentor, Greg Hancock”.
Luke Becker will also be riding in the prestigious, Phil Crump Trophy, being staged at Olympic Park Speedway, Mildura, on Sunday Night, December 29, following the two-night ISM24 (December 27 and 28) at Gillman.
“I’d like to thank the Mildura Motorcycle Club and Ryan Sedgmen, particularly, for his efforts in working with me to secure Luke Becker,” David Tapp added.
“Ryan and I are working very closely together in regards to a few international riders and it’s an arrangement that is highly beneficial to both parties.
“The sport of speedway in Australia is the big winner, if the two parties can work together, to assist with the significant costs involved in luring foreign riders to Australia”.
America’s Luke Becker joins Jason Doyle, Jaimon Lidsey and Fraser Bowes, as the solo riders announced thus far, for the International Speedway Masters, incorporating the Leigh Adams Medal at Gillman Speedway.
Further major rider announcements will be made later this week.
