AUSSIE ICON JASON DOYLE CONFIRMS HIS 2024 SEASON IS OVER
The 2017 Speedway GP world champion suffered a torn rotator cuff after crashing out of British club Ipswich’s Rowe Motor Oil Premiership match at King’s Lynn on Thursday, May 23, clearing the safety fence. He also sustained four broken ribs and a lung contusion.
Doyle returned to Poland for a post-surgery check-up, where doctors were happy with his progress. But the Orlen FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Warsaw winner admits he won’t make it back on track for the end of the European season.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “On Thursday, I went back to @rehasportclinic, saw professor @lubiatowski and had my nine-week check-up. Very good news and not so good news for my speedway season. “The arm is healing really well. The professor is happy with the recovery and the shoulder is looking great. But we 100 percent know now I won’t be back for the end of the season. I don’t want to mess things up coming back too soon. “So that means the bikes will go into hibernation until October when I get the all-clear. Thank you once again to my sponsors, clubs and fans for all your support! Bring on 2025.”
Doyle’s place in the remaining Speedway GP rounds for 2024 is taken by his fellow countryman, SGP first substitute star Max Fricke.
