KVECH CLAIMS CZECH TITLE FOR FIRST TIME
Speedway GP star Jan Kvech ended his wait for a first Czech Republic Individual Speedway Championship after storming to a 15-point maximum in Pilsen on Wednesday, September 11.
Despite becoming the country’s first full-time Speedway GP star since Lukas Dryml in 2008, Kvech had never claimed his national crown.
But he went unbeaten over five rides to triumph in round two ahead of Prague teammate Daniel Klima (14 points) and Jan Macek (13).
Kvech finished third at the opening round in Kopřivnice with 12 points and topped the championship podium on 27 ahead of Macek, who finished second on 24, with Prague’s Jaroslav Vanicek placed third on 21.
Kvech’s chances were helped by the loss of Prague’s teenage sensation Adam Bednar, who won the opening round in Kopřivnice on 14, but was forced out of the Pilsen round after one second place due to illness.
Meanwhile, former champion Vaclav Milik – second in the opening round on 13 – was also sidelined as he recovers from a broken arm.
