LAMBERT’S LONG AWAITED GP WIN
GREAT Britain’s Robert Lambert is a Grand Prix winner for the first time – and he now has a great chance of securing second place in the 2024 World Championship.
Lambert, who has been consistent throughout the season and has reached multiple Finals, finally took the win he had been threatening with victory at the Danish Grand Prix in Vojens.
The former King’s Lynn favourite finished ahead of Bartosz Zmarzlik, although second place on the night was enough for the Polish star to clinch his fifth World title.
But Lambert is now ten points clear of third-placed Fredrik Lindgren in the race for silver with one round remaining, whilst Belle Vue’s Dan Bewley cemented his place in the top six, securing his place in the 2025 series, by reaching the semi-finals.
Lambert said: “It hasn’t really sunk in as yet, but it’s an incredible feeling. After the finish line, there were a few tears under my goggles. It has been a long time coming.
“I have put in a lot of hard work and there has been a lot of disappointment at coming so close so often before and not getting it. “It comes as a relief to finally get it done and stop the talk going around about it. It was a hot topic about me not winning one. Now it’s finally done.
“I am so happy at the moment and this trophy is going nowhere. It’s going to be sticking with me for a long time.”

POOLE secured their place in the Cab Direct Championship Grand Final with a 53-36 win at Workington for an emphatic 31-point aggregate victory.
Ben Cook scored a 12-point maximum for the Pirates, who led by 14 points heading to the GT Tyres Arena and only saw that advantage cut back by two before taking control on the day.
Richard Lawson added 12+1 as the visitors remained unbeaten from three visits to the Cumbrian venue this season, and they limited the home side to just four race wins with Dan Thompson top-scoring on eight points.
Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “I always thought the aggregate win was well within our grasp but to be honest, despite a few doubters, one in particular who is close to me, who thought we weren’t going to win the meeting tonight, I felt we would win both legs and we certainly proved them wrong!
“It was a great performance by the boys with everyone chipping in with points and especially Vinnie (Foord) who was real good value for his points which as we know might have been more.
“The important thing is that it keeps the momentum going as we head into three big Finals.
“I am really proud of Ben with another unbeaten performance, and he must be one of, if not the, best rider in the league right now – he’s so good when he’s out front.”
Poole will now face Oxford or Scunthorpe in the Grand Final, with the Cheetahs two points up on the Scorpions heading into their second leg at Cowley on Wednesday.

WILLIAM Cairns, Cooper Rushen and Oliver Bovingdon clinched the 2024 British Youth Championship titles in their respective categories at Edinburgh on Saturday.
Cairns, who has made a sensational start to NDL racing with Belle Vue this summer, lost his perfect record in the 500cc category as Middlesbrough’s William Hocaniuk took the win on the day, ahead of Jamie Etherington in second place, whilst third for Cairns was enough to take the 500cc crown.
Rushen needed to win the round to confirm the 250cc title, and he did so with a perfect display to win all of heats on the day.
And Bovingdon completed a second successive triumph in the 125cc class, whilst Charlie Fletcher won the support section at Armadale.
The British Youth series concludes at Glasgow today (Sunday, 2pm).
