THE GOAT WINS AGAIN – 12 NATIONAL TITLES!
By Mark Neale:
Australia’s most successful Speedway competitor in the history of the sport in any division, Darrin Treloar, and passenger Blake Cox, have re-written the record books.
The milestone moment occurred at Oakburn Park Speedway, Tamworth, when Darrin won his twelfth Australian Speedway Sidecar Championship!
Treloar and Cox were unbeaten on the night, winning their five qualifying heats, before taking out the four lap title final ahead of Justin Plaisted/Damian Egan (14 pts) and defending three times national titleholder Mark Plaisted/Ben Pitt (12 pts).
Former National Champion Trent Headland/Jaxon Rayner (11 pts) were fourth after failing to finish the final.
They won their semi-final to qualify for the final.
It was a great night for the South Australians who filled the minor placings. The combination of Treloar and Cox have now won four Australian titles.
Treloar has taken out the most Australian Championships in the history of Australian Speedway (with an incredible winning percentage). He has recorded the even dozen from 32 national title appearances!
