GSA ADVANCED MACHINING ULTIMATE SPEEDCAR CHAMPIONSHIP 2024-25
By Barry Lane:
The series kicks-off at the Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway this Saturday, November 2.
Eighteen drivers have nominated with more then half of them capable of pocketing the $3000 for the A Main winner. The minor placegetters will also be well rewarded with $2000 and $1000 respectively for second and third and money right down the line.
Scott Farmer was the winner of a ‘barnburner’ of a race at our Toowoomba show earlier in the season. This race is still being talked about for its intensity, numerous slide jobs and fence scraping.
Casey O’Connell was in contention at both of our shows and led the Gladstone A Main for every lap except the last being pipped by Harry Stewart in another exciting race. Stewart has also won in Toowoomba in a memorable come-from-behind win last season.
Queensland Champion Dylan Menz was near the front in both features this season only to be involved in minor skirmishes and having to settle for less than a win. At Gladstone he recovered from a late race spin, after contact with another car, to get back to third during the last lap in an inspirational drive.
Michael Kendall is never to be discounted from any predictions. This seasoned veteran has been racing since a teenager and has extensive experience in New Zealand, USA and Australia and is still keen as mustard to taste victory.
Rusty Whittaker is a tenacious driver who looks for every opportunity to get to the front and he is joined by another driver with similar qualities, Charlie Brown. Brown, making his first outing for the season, is a crowd favourite with his fence scraping passes and never give up attitude.
Lachy Paulger, Tim Devine and Tom Clauss just need an ounce of luck to break through for that elusive win. Rookie Daisy Smith has impressed with our natural ability and will benefit from more laps in close competition.
This competition would not be possible without the generous support of Brad and Toni Dawson from GSA Advanced Machining. The prizemoney on offer is comparable to the now defunct Speedcar Super Series and the format gives every driver a chance to win ‘a piece of the pie’. Sincere thank you Brad and Toni.
James from the Mental Switch is also on board again this season so if your child, family or athlete needs to improve confidence, mental strength and resilience contact James on 0419 227 700.
Former driver Graeme Flynn, through his business Fwordspeedshop, is sponsoring the ‘Hard-Charger Award’ for every A Main this season.
Remember to support the businesses that support your sport.
See you Saturday at Toowoomba.
