DASHING DANE FOR BRUMMIES
BIRMINGHAM have pulled off the signing of Danish former World Cup winner Michael Jepsen Jensen to make a return to the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership this season.
The 32-year-old, who was World Under-21 Champion in 2012 and also won the Nordic Grand Prix as a Wild Card, had spells with Peterborough and Coventry earlier in his career but has not raced regularly in the UK for just over a decade.
Jepsen Jensen was a title winner in his home country last year and also made a major impression when he returned to the top level of racing in Poland.
Brummies CEO Nigel Tolley said: “We’re delighted to have Michael as a Birmingham rider and again, we feel he will complement the rest of our team well.
“Anyone who has seen him at any point during his career will know what a real talent he is and whilst it has been a while since he raced in the UK, we know what he is capable of.
“Speaking to him throughout the negotiations, you can really sense his hunger and he has some really big aspirations for 2025. “We’re looking forward to seeing how he settles in at Perry Barr and he’s someone who has got what it takes to push to be a No.1 in this league.”

DOUBLE winner Danny King and Oxford Cheetahs captain Sam Masters are both confirmed starters for the Ben Fund Bonanza at Cowley on Sunday March 23.
King, who has the highest points tally of any rider in previous Bonanzas, will be looking to become the first competitor to win the event three times – but he has stressed the overall significance of the event.
The Ipswich and Redcar star received support from the Ben Fund after suffering a broken hand last season.
He said: “I had to have surgery and the Ben Fund helped with that. It doesn’t matter who you are, all riders are eligible for the Ben Fund’s assistance and all riders should be ready to help by riding in the Bonanza.”
Masters added: “It’s good that we have it at Oxford. I always like to do the Bonanza if I can. Last year’s was called off at Workington and I couldn’t do the restaging, and the previous year it was the day before my Testimonial.
“It’s a good way to start the season and the Ben Fund is great for British Speedway.”

NEWLY crowned Australian Champion Brady Kurtz is the first rider to be confirmed for the Ryan Douglas Testimonial meeting at Leicester.
Douglas stages his benefit event at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Saturday March 22 (4pm).
Kurtz ended the 2024 season in blistering form, including leading Belle Vue to the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership title in the Grand Final against Leicester, and he carried that on by winning his national title earlier this month.
Douglas said: “Brady is absolutely on fire at the moment, having just been crowned the new Australian Champion and now stepping into the spotlight with his debut in the GP series.
“It’s awesome to have him ride in my meeting.”
