WARSAW TO HOST 2026 SPEEDWAY WORLD CUP FINAL
Polish capital Warsaw is set to stage the biggest FIM Speedway World Cup Final for generations next year (2026) as the hosts chase their 10th Ove Fundin Trophy at the iconic PGE Narodowy.
Poland’s national stadium has already welcomed 50,000-plus crowds for the nation’s biggest speedway event, the PZM FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Warsaw, since 2015. But this is the first time the nation’s capital has ever staged an FIM Speedway World Team Cup Championship final.
The FIM SWC was last staged in 2023, when Wroclaw’s Olympic Stadium delivered a Final for the ages, with local hero Maciej Janowski passing Great Britain star Robert Lambert with less than a lap to go to snatch Poland’s ninth gold medal in the competition. With just six points separating all four teams after 20 heats, it was a spectacular return to the calendar for the FIM SWC, which was staged for the first time since 2017.
The date for the 2026 FIM SWC Final and the full calendar for the competition has yet to be revealed.
The 2025 FIM Speedway season climaxes with this year’s world team championship – the FIM Speedway of Nations – which will be contested in Polish city Torun from September 30-October 4, before the competition makes way for the FIM SWC’s much-anticipated return in 2026.
Michał Sikora, president of the Polish Motor Association (PZM), commented: “For a long time, we wanted to bring this great event to PGE Narodowy. Now we have succeeded, and in 2026 we will host the FIM Speedway World Cup at PGE Narodowy. Polish fans love these competitions.”
Jean-Baptiste Ley, Motorsport Events Director at WBD Sports, added: “We know fans were excited when the FIM Speedway World Cup returned in 2023, but bringing it to PGE Narodowy takes this great competition to another level.
“Riders could not have a greater incentive to make it into their national teams and ensure they are part of an FIM SWC Final, contested in one of Europe’s most iconic arenas.
“We look forward to working with our partners at the FIM and the PZM to deliver an event that everyone who attends will remember for a very long time.”
Before next year’s FIM SWC Final, PGE Narodowy plays host to round two of the 2025 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series, the PZM FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Warsaw on May 17.
